The PADI Dive Against Debris Course teaches you how to record trash that you collect from the sea. But that’s not the main purpose of the course.
What it really teaches you is how to help our underwater environment.

Identifying what you can safely remove without causing more harm
Passing the information on to Project Aware
Staying safe while you are cleaning up.

Use mesh bags for collecting

Your first step to Eco-Warrior!

There is a bit more equipment that you need to take with you. You’ll need a mesh bag and a line cutter or knife.

A large SMB or lift bag is a good idea in case you find fishing net, which can be heavy.

Fishing nets can be heavy

The Dive Against Debris Course is 1 dive, so it can be completed in one day.
The course has a digital guide rather than a manual, as it’s much more practical than theoretical.
We teach you about:

  • dive planning
  • when it is safe to remove trash
  • how to lift heavier items
  • how to log the trash you removed
  • safe use of cutting tools
  • why it’s important to report all trash found
