Turtles breathe air and need to surface regularly to breathe. They don’t leave the water often as their movement on land is both difficult and ungainly. Underwater however, they move easily and efficiently. They eat jellyfish and algae growing on the coral and are at risk from the large number of plastic bags in the ocean that look a lot like Jellyfish when floating in the water.
