Similan Liveaboard Diving

Live-aboard diving is the ultimate way to see and dive the Similan Islands.

Live-aboard trips typically last from 3 – 5 days, and go to all the best sites on the Similans, Koh Bon, and most go to Koh Tachai and Richelieu rock. There are lots of different boats and several different companies, but having worked on most of them, we have our favourites.

To a degree your budget defines the boat you choose. There are cheap and cheerful backpacker favourites, and higher end boats that give extra levels of comfort and luxury. They visit many of the same dive sites, but en-suite cabins, more experienced staff and more space come with a price.

We happen to think that the higher standards with the higher price tag are worth the extra investment, but we offer both ends of the scale, because everyone has different requirements.

DiveRace

DiveRace is a purpose built dive boat, where every cabin is a master cabin. It has an amazing crew, fantastic food and lots of personal attention. If comfort, space and something better than average is what you are looking for, this is the boat for you.

The Junk

The Junk is a classic boat, with lots of history, style, charisma and class. It has an amazing crew, fantastic food and lots of personal attention. It starred in the James Bond movie ‘Man with the Golden Gun’ and has so many stories that make it special.

The Junk
Bavaria Liveaboard

Bavaria

A big spacious live-aboard where all cabins are en-suite, no cabins have more than 2 guests, and it has the luxury of plenty of space to chill out between dives. If your budget is not so tight, we strongly recommend this boat – it’s really rather special. Bavaria runs 6-day trips throughout the season, with the option to take a 3-day ‘half-trip’.

Pawara

Pawara is sister ship to Sawasdee Fasai and is a lovely boat.  Mid-range with a big dive deck and air-conditioned saloon, it has spacious master cabins on the main deck for those who want something special.

Working on a Liveaboard

Sawasdee Fasai

Sister ship to Pawara, Sawasdee Fasai is big and comfortable with a spacious air-conditioned saloon for the moments when you need to get out of the sun, and a big dining area.  The food is great too.

The Phinisi

The Phinisi is a sister ship to The Junk.  Built fairly recently, what it lacks in history it makes up for in extra space and comfort.  It’s higher end, classy, and the food is amazing.
